We need to make sure our properties are treated and that’s the first step. But unfortunately, there is no solution out there that can cure 100% of the problem and that’s why we want you to be prepared for all your tick encounters. Here is what you need to know»
Important Things to Remember
- Contrary to what some might think, a tick can’t fly or jump. They are versatile climbers but they must keep all of their legs on a surface!
- Not ALL ticks are infected with lyme disease. They are carriers, but it is not spread throughout their entire population.
- Ticks usually live for about 18-28 months.
- Ticks are more prominent in the summer, but that doesn’t mean they’re dormant in the winter. You can still be a host during the colder season.
Tips for a Tick Check
- Ticks like to cling onto your clothing first. When you come inside after a long stint outdoors, you should remove your clothing and inspect that first. Especially your socks!
- Showering after you are done outside is pleasing to your family and it can help prevent infections. Be sure to inspect your body hair while you shower!
- Be sure to inspect behind the ears, under the arms, inside the belly button, back of the knees, hair, between the legs and around the waist. Ticks can cling on anywhere!
Checking Your Pets
Ticks really feast on the blood of ALL mammals which includes your dogs and cats. Their thick fur is a great hiding place for these pests and they can affect your pet’s health the same way they can affect yours. Take a fine comb and brush through their hair after time in the yard. Once you have combed your way through, feel around the pet’s ears and feet to double check all the crevasses. Always better to be safe than sorry.
Our organic tick control program is designed to minimize your and your pet’s exposure to ticks and the harmful diseases they carry. Our applications are timed based on weather conditions and the tick’s life cycle.
